Fresh & Local:The King Cake Guide Has Arrived!Happy Mardi Gras from the farmers, fishers, bakers, makers and all your friends at the Crescent City Farmers Market! The CCFM King Cake Shopping Guide has arrived, detailing pre-order options and all offerings you can expect to find at market! This Carnival season, nine of our vendors are offering king cakes, with a variation of flavors and fillings, totaling over 30 must-try variations of king cakes! Starting Sunday, January 7th, you can grab a slice of—or an entire!—ricotta, chocolate, and orange king cake from Leo’s Bread; a Creole Cream Cheese Queen Cake from La Vie En Rose; and one of Paw Paw’s Donuts’ king cake donuts made with buttery brioche and delicious filling! Have your (king) cake and eat it, too! |
Picks of the Week:Premiere Produce PeopleKing Cake is garnering attention with this season’s tastiest flavors, let’s not forget the freshest food at market and the reason we all gather at CCFM: produce! The winter season is the best growing time for root veggies, brassicas, greens, and strawberries! CCFM boasts several regular produce vendor superstars at each market. Find a great variety of produce at all of our markets from Isabel’s Tamales and Produce, VEGGI Co-op, Monica’s Okra World, Louisiana Gourmet Produce and Perilloux Farms. Additionally, River Queen Greens can be found at our Thursday Mid-City Market and Fekete Family Farms can be found at our Tuesday Uptown Market. Don’t forget specialty produce vendors like Mycelium Express and Take Box for all things mushrooms, L’Hoste Citrus for mandarin oranges and grapefruits this time of year, and Johndales Farms for strawberries. Healthy Eating Tips at MarketJoin us at the market on January 11 to learn healthy eating tips. In this activity programs staff will help you confidently tackle your healthy eating goals through building a balanced diet. At our programs table, you will receive a guide to understand convenient ways to measure portion sizes. There will also be an opportunity to learn about the daily servings of fruits and vegetables needed per guidance from the USDA’s MyPlate Plan. Seasonal recipe cards will be available to encourage ways to use fresh produce from the market in your meals at home. We hope to see you there! |

Vendor of the Week:Coffee Science NOLACoffee Science is CCFM’s first coffee vendor! With a shop and cafe on Broad St., Coffee Science was originally opened by long time coffee roaster and barista Tom Oliver, who has spent the past 30 years in the coffee industry here in New Orleans. Coffee Science is at the Sunday City Park market every week selling whole beans, hot coffee and cold brew, and an array of their specialty coffee drinks, like the espresso nebula which is a whipped espresso drink with cane sugar and ice. They’ve also got a serious pastry program which includes seasonal breakfast grab-and-go items like burritos and savory pastries as well as a chocolate espresso king cake featured in the new Big Book of King Cake.
